Magnelis® A new metal coating that offers protection even against the most adverse effects The surface treatment of parts for superstructures, which we supply as the only one in the Czech Republic, is made from steel sheet coated with the revolutionary protective layer Magnelis. This unique coating offers a range of benefits. Coating with the best corrosion resistance, which is up to ten times higher than galvanic zinc plating The most suitable coating even for the most adverse environment The most cost-effective alternative to the hot-dip galvanizing process It is a coating where 3.5% aluminum and 3% magnesium are added to the zinc bath. The magnesium component is crucial. On open edges after sheet metal processing, it further seals the surface, protecting even the cut edge from corrosion in outdoor environments. The Magnelis® coating has a neutral dark gray color and an aesthetically smooth appearance without zinc spangle. It is available with standard ecological passivation E-Passivation® (temporary transparent protection without CrVI) or oiled. Nothing provides better protection in environments with high chloride or ammonia content than Magnelis®. Thanks to its unique chemical composition, Magnelis® has higher corrosion resistance than standard hot-dip galvanized steel. Damage to the coating, which occurs for instance in environments with high ammonia content, is seven times less for the Magnelis® coating compared to a standard zinc coating. Additionally, Magnelis® ensures long-term active protection of the underlying metal. Several metal-coated products were subjected to eight months of salt spray resistance testing. The results were clear evidence of the excellent corrosion resistance of the Magnelis® coating. Unlike other samples, the sample with the Magnelis® coating showed no signs of "red" corrosion. Alternative to hot-dip galvanizing or other metals Magnelis® offers great advantages compared to products with hot-dip galvanized coating (with a ZM coating weight higher than 250 g/m2) or even products with high added value such as stainless steel or aluminum. Depending on the conditions to which it is exposed, Magnelis® allows for a significant reduction in coating weight: it can have two to four times lower weight than hot-dip galvanized coating, while providing significantly higher corrosion resistance and cost efficiency. Environmentally responsible The application of Magnelis® coating protects natural resources because its production consumes less zinc compared to pure zinc coatings. Additionally, similar to the Aluzinc® coating, Magnelis® significantly reduces zinc leaching into the soil.
